Job Opportunity: Full-Time Firefighter/EMT-B

Montgomery County Emergency Services District No. 10 (“MCESD No. 10”) and the Magnolia Fire Department (“MFD”) are seeking eligible Men and Women to become Full-Time Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician – Basic with our organization.
MCESD No. 10 covers approximately one hundred eight (180) square miles, protecting an estimated population of 138,000 persons, in a rapidly growing area of Montgomery County, in the Greater Houston, Texas area. The MCESD No. 10 and MFD responded to Five Thousand and Fifty-One (5,551) incidents in 2019. The Full Time Firefighters main responsibility is performing tasks assigned during emergency incidents. These tasks are fire suppression, utilizing fire hose to extinguish fire; ventilation of hot gases and smoke from buildings; climb ground and aerial ladders; search and rescue of missing persons in those structures; and rescue persons from vehicles, buildings and flood waters. Non-emergency tasks are participating in Fire Department training evolutions, Community Risk Reduction (“CRR”) events, and other tasks assigned by a company or chief officer.
Duties: The Full-Time Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (“EMT-B”):
- Will observe and follow all safety rules and regulations.
- Will follow all District Policies and Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG’s).
- Will work a work plan covering twenty-four (24) hours per day and fifty-three (53) hours per week; (day on, day off, day on, day off, day on, then four (4) days off).
- Work time that exceeds fifty-three hours per week or one hundred-six (106) hours per pay period will be compensation at one and one-half (1.5) their base pay rate; double (2.0) time will be paid to those who work on a holiday.
- Will provided BLS care to injured or ill patients; first response only.
- May be required to drive large fire apparatus (Engines, Aerial Ladders, Rescue, Tender (Tanker), along with smaller technical and administrative vehicles.
Requirments:
- Shall be eighteen (18) years or age or older.
- Possess or eligible to possess a Texas Class C Driver’s license.
- Shall have two (2) years of experience in the Fire Service.
- Shall possess or able to possess a Texas Commission on Fire Protection (“TCFP”) Firefighter Basic certification. (Out of State IFSAC certifications will allow transition of out of state candidates).
- Shall possess or able to possess a State of Texas EMT-B License.
- Shall pass an oral interview provided by MCESD No. 10 Chief Officers.
- Shall pass a Physical Ability Test (“PAT”) provided by the District.
- Shall pass a Medical Exam provided by a third party clinician.
- Shall pass a drug and alcohol test provided by a third party clinic (test includes nicotine).
- Shall pass a mental health exam provided by a third party clinician.
- Shall be a non-smoker, non-tobacco user and non-vaping user.
Wage and Benefits:
- Starting annual wage of $57,000.14 or $20.6822 per hour.
- Fifty-three (53) hour work week.
